Dinner Club Fun

Sweet husband and I are in a group of couples who eat out in fabulous restaurants once a month. Our December excursion was to Ama Lur in the Gaylord Texan, Grapevine, TX. The reason I am posting about this here is because the restaurant features "contemporary Southwestern cuisine" which means - cilantro.

My dish (Seared Jumbo Prawns) was fabulous. However, I specifically asked the waitress if there was cilantro in or on my dish when I ordered. And I am thankful that I did! Nowhere in the menu listing did it say "cilantro" for my meal, but it would have been on there had I not mentioned that I didn't want it. This, my friends, is my biggest pet peeve about restaurants. If there is an ingredient in a dish it MUST be listed on the menu. Especially, in my opinion, with something as vile as cilantro. In addition, think of all the people with actual food allergies who need to know what they are getting.

All in all, the meal was great. It just reminds me that I will have to continue to ask what is in my dish before ordering. Oh, and they had this pomegranate drink there that was DELICIOUS!

Oh, the Horror!

Yes, it's difficult to read, but it's cilantro paste, to ruin all of your favorite dishes!

Don't Ruin My Soup!

I hope you know that if you go out for Pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) you should request "no cilantro" otherwise it will be in there. Just a friendly warning from me to you! Husband likes it, so here is a photo of "cilantro on the side" for you to enjoy.
